Politicians are experiencing Thursday the same type of lessons learned by so many of Taylor Swift’s ex-boyfriends: If you mess with a multi-platinum, world famous, prolifically talented bull, you’re going to get the horns. Those questioning Jay-Z and his wife Beyonce’s trip to Cuba have been issued a response.
In a direct rebuttal to criticisms to the couple’s trip to Havana, Jay-Z calls out the lawmakers who raised the controversy: “Politicians never did s–t for me/except lie to me, distort history/ wanna give me jailtime and a fine/fine, let me commit a real crime.” Lawmakers including Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., and Reps. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Mario Diaz-Balart, R-Fla., demanded the Obama administration explain why the trip was allowed. It is understandable that these politicians raised concerns, considering the Cuban heritage of many of their constituents. But since the Treasury Department confirmed the trip was licensed and met the requirements of a cultural exchange trip, it appears Jay-Z will be getting the last word with Open Letter.
