Black-ish actress Jenifer Lewis showed out on the Emmys red carpet by wearing Nike apparel for its support of Colin Kaepernick.

“I am wearing Nike to applaud them for supporting Colin Kaepernick and his protest against racial injustice and police brutality,” she told Variety on Monday.

Lewis said she wanted to do something meaningful at this year’s award show and commended the sports apparel for stepping up and doing the right thing.

“What can I do? What can I do that’s meaningful? I’ll wear Nike. I’ll wear Nike to say thank you,” she said. “Thank you for leading the resistance! We need more corporate America to stand up also.”

Nike chose Kaepernick as one of the faces of its 30th anniversary “Just Do It” campaign, which was met with mixed reactions, earlier this month.

Despite outrage from conservatives, online sales for Nike jumped 31 percent and its stock hit a near-record high on Wednesday.
