Rapper Juelz Santana was released from jail on April 6 after being in police custody since March 12. The 36-year-old was arrested on weapons and drug charges after a .38 caliber handgun and illegal drugs were found in his luggage at Newark Liberty International Airport. The Dipset member quickly left the scene in a cab on March 9 and did not turn himself into authorities for another three days.
The rapper born LaRon James was released on $500,000 bail into the custody of his mother. According to the Jasmine Brand, judge Michael A. Hammer ordered James to serve to serve his house arrest at his mother’s Englewood, N.J. home and not the home he shares with his girlfriend Kimbella Vanderhee.
According to court documents the judge said, “the defendant must reside with Ms. James and NOT Ms. Vanderhee.”
Vanderhee and James have three children together. Under the orders of the judge, the parole officer on James’s case must preapprove his residence. He passport was confiscated and he is required to install a landline phone in the home within the next 10 days.
The rapper will have to wear an ankle monitor around the clock as he waits for his federal trial to start.
