“This is important.”

Jay Z took to Twitter on March 1 to post those three words to further encourage everyone to tune-in to Time: The Kalief Browder Story, which premiered on Spike TV, last Tuesday.

Browder, a young Black male, was accused of stealing a backpack and sent to Rikers Island where he was held without conviction for three years. He was only 16. When he was finally released, the pain and abuse endured during his time behind bars, tormented him and eventually led to him taking his own life.

The six-part docu-series, executive produced by Jay Z and The Weinstein Company hits the heart with brutal details that document Browder’s experience before, during and after his time in one of the world’s most dangerous prison complexes.

Ahead of the second episode, Time and Punishment , a broadcasted Town Hall discussion featuring Jay Z and Harvey Weinstein will air. Joining the executive team will be Browder’s siblings: Akeem, Nicole, Deion, and Kamal.

Watch Time and Punishment: A Town Hall with Jay Z and Harvey Weinstein, Wednesday, March 8 on Spike TV. Then, stay tuned for the compelling second hour of Time: The Kalief Browder Story.
