After taking a brief hiatus from social media, Kanye West returned this weekend to share photos and videos from his family trip to Africa. In one video, West proclaims himself the “best living recording artist on the planet” because the spirits of Tupac Shakur, Bob Marley and Fela Kuti “flow through” him.

Taken aback by the comparison, Seun Kuti, son of the Afrobeats pioneer, took to social media to say his father’s spirit is nowhere near the Trump supporter. He also encouraged Ziggy Marley, son of Bob Marley, to correct West.

“Erm erm on behalf of the Kuti family, I want to state that the spirit of Olufela Anikulapo Kuti isn’t anywhere near Kanye West. @ziggymarley over to you. @oldmanebro come get ur boi before I #getthesax,” Seun wrote.

West released several other videos while visiting Africa as well, sharing his thoughts on “mind control,” his Saturday Night Live experience and Sony refusing to sell him his publishing rights.

When it comes to SNL, West says he wasn’t allowed to speak freely during the episode where his after-show rant went viral.

“I can’t say what I want to say on SNL. I will positive energy into the universe. We will say what we feel, we will do what we feel.”

The husband and father also shared his frustration with Sony Music’s unwillingness to sell him his publishing rights for a pre-agreed upon amount of $8-9 million.

“Sony ATV told me I couldn’t buy my publishing. I got the money. So, Big John, Marty, whoever is involved, I need my publishing. I got the money.”
