Starz announced earlier today (July 25) that rapper Kendrick Lamar would star opposite 50 Cent in episode 505 of the hit series Power, according to Variety.
Mark Canton, who executive produces the crime drama along with 50 Cent, explained the decision to include the Grammy- and Pulitzer Prize-winning rapper in the episode titled “Happy Birthday”: “Kendrick is a once in a generation talent and Courtney, 50 and I felt it would be exciting to create a role for him in ‘Power.’ Everyone involved is thrilled to have him join the family,” he said in the announcement.
Power’s fifth season premiered July 1, and the network reports the audience for the series has grown 9 percent and on-demand viewing increased 40 percent in comparison to season four.
The episode is scheduled to air July 29 at 8 p.m. ET on the Starz network.
