Tori Kelly is an undeniable talent who has clearly been influenced by R&B greats. Beginning her career as a Christian artist, she ventured into the pop world only to return with upcoming gospel album, Hiding Place, produced entirely by Grammy-winning songwriter, Kirk Franklin.
The collaboration shouldn’t come as a huge surprise for Kelly fans, as she collaborated with Christian hip hop artist Lecrae last year on the moving, “I’ll Find You.” She also performed with The Hamiltones during the 2018 Stellar Awards.
According to SoulBounce, Kelly says working with Franklin was “a dream come true.” The feeling was mutual.
“A lot of artists out there will rely on Auto-Tune or studio tricks,” said Franklin. “But there’s no button you can push for emotion, and there’s no button for skill. Tori is excellent in everything she does, because she’s a real, pure artist.”
Kelly says she hopes the album will serve a higher purpose.
“I want them to know that, no matter what they’re going through, there’s a God who loves them so much and so unconditionally, and there’s always a reason to feel hope. That’s what I really believe in, and I want everyone out there to hear my heart.”
Hiding Place will be available September 14th. Check out the first single, “Never Alone,” below.
