L.A. Reid is Leaving Epic Records!

L.A. Reid is exiting his position at Epic Records as chairman/CEO after 6 years but why and what does he have planned to do next in life?

Yesterday, Variety reported that L.A. Reid, chairman and CEO of Epic Records, will be leaving the company entirely after nearly six years.

Reid has been the force behind many successful acts at Epic in 2017 alone, having boosted pop morale with big names like Meghan Trainor, Fifth Harmony and Mariah Carey. In Hip-Hop, Reid can claim the most successful acts of the genre with chart topping LPs from Travis Scott, Future and DJ Khaled, whose “I’m The One” record currently holds the Billboard Hot 100’s number one spot.

So far we don’t know why the transition happened or what’s next for L.A. Reid, but he is reportedly listed as the executive producer of the scripted drama, Cotton Club.

Reid is known as one of the most prolific figures in music after starting his own label with Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, LaFace Records in the late 1980s. Since then, he has dominated the industry and hopefully has plans to continue to do so.
