#SceneGem: ICYM Lakeith Stanfield in ‘Live Cargo’

Lakeith Stanfield is definitely attaching himself to engaging projects.

Following a winning season with his role on FX’s Atlanta and an amazingly twisted portrayal in the racial-thriller Get Out, Stanfield’s latest film, Live Cargo is swirled in complexity.

Premiering at the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival to applauding reviews, the film was shot noir style and carries an eery tone. Set in the Bahamas, Live Cargo pulls from writer-director Logan Sandler’s experience growing up in and around the island. The feature also marks Sandler’s directorial debut. Check out the synopsis below.

After an unspeakable tragedy, grieving couple Nadine (Dree Hemingway, While We’re Young) and Lewis (Lakeith Stanfield, Get Out) retreat to a remote island in the Bahamas where Nadine grew up vacationing. They’re soon caught up in an ongoing conflict between Roy (Robert Wisdom, The Wire), the island’s aging patriarch, and Doughboy, a dangerous human trafficker using stolen boats to transport Haitians to the US.
