SPice,

Dancehall artist Spice appeared on Season 7 of the VH1 reality series, Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta this past summer showcasing her dark-skinned complexion. After the airing of the show, she took a social media hiatus to work on new music. She re-emerged on Instagram on Monday was a “fresh start.”

Spice erased every image on her page and shared a new picture that features her with White skin, a blonde wig and gray eyes. Several fans have called the Rompin Shop singer out for what they believe to be skin bleaching.

Spice appeared on Instagram Live and briefly addressed her dramatic look saying her name is “Vanilla” and joking that she is now making porridge. When another fan asked why her skin was White, she dodged the question and promoted her new music project, Captured.

It’s unclear if the skin lightening is just makeup to bring attention to her new music or if Spice actually bleached her complexion. Skin-bleaching is a trend on the island of Jamaican and Vybz Kartel, another notable dancehall star, also lightened his skin.
