Mahershala Ali & Lupita Nyong’o Are Starring In Tidal’s Top Secret NC17-Rated ‘4:44’

Something supersexy and top secret is happening over at Tidal. Apparently, the music- streaming service and Sprint have teamed up to exclusively release a new film titled 4:44 starring Mahershala Ali, Lupita Nyong’o and Danny Glover. There is no description regarding the film yet, and it’s been so under wraps that we hadn’t heard about it prior to the teaser trailer releasing on Twitter.  With these major names attached, however, we have to assume that 4:44 is going to be sensational.

Tidal has been teasing the film for a moment, but since the marketing gave absolutely nothing away until now, many believed it was connected to the release of a new Jay Z album. We now know that’s not the case but don’t know if this will be a full-length film or a short. Since 4:44 boasts an explosive NC-17 rating, we do know that it’s going to be very adult. We can expect extreme violence or strong sexual content, or perhaps could also be a mix of both. Check out the one-minute teaser trailer for yourself below.

The trailer gives very little away. In fact, Academy Award winner Nyong’o isn’t featured at all. Instead, it’s basically a full minute of a shirtless  Ali working over a punching bag with Glover looking on. (And, quite frankly, we aren’t mad at that at all. )

There is no word yet on a release date for the film, but it looks like it may be a Tidal x Sprint exclusive since the CEO of Sprint released the teaser on Twitter. The title itself also gives nothing away. From what we know, 4:44 signals some sort of spiritual awakening. We’ll keep our eyes peeled for more info.
