How Meek Mill Set the Tone for the Philadelphia Eagles’ Super Bowl Victory

The Philadelphia Eagles won their first Super Bowl in franchise history last night against five-time champs, the New England Patriots. Plenty of Philly natives flew out to Minneapolis, Minnesota for the historic night, including Kevin Hart, Pink, Bradley Cooper and more.

While rapper Meek Mill may not have physically been able to witness the Eagles’ Super Bowl win, the MCs presence was felt throughout the night, and has, in fact, been felt all season.

The team saluted the North Philly spitter while celebrating their January 21 win against the Minnesota Vikings by blasting “Dreams and Nightmares.” This time around, the underdog anthem was chosen as their Super Bowl entrance song, setting the tone for an unforgettable night in the city of Brotherly Love.

Mill was sentenced to two to four years behind bars back in September 2017 for popping wheelies on his dirt bike and breaking up a fight at an airport, offenses the rapper’s fans don’t believe warrant years in prison.

Plenty of his followers let their opinions be known this weekend, including Minnesota Timberwolves player Karl-Anthony Towns, who was spotted in the stands rocking an Eagles jersey with “Free Meek Mill” scrolled across the back.

Before the game began, the “Glow Up” rhymer, who is a huge Eagles fan, shared that he had full confidence in his hometown squad.

“It really lifted my spirit to hear the team rally around my songs and that’s why I make music — to inspire others and bring people together,” the rapper said in a statement. “The Eagles have also motivated me with the way they’ve overcome tough situations and injuries to succeed this year.”

According to the MCs sister, Nasheema Williams, Mill was able to watch the game from his cell.

In entrance song, “Dreams & Nightmares,” the MMG signee reflects on the hard times while basking in the glory of his unlikely come-up, something many would say the Eagles can relate to the morning after their surprising triumph against Tom Brady and associates.

Even NBA ballers showed love to Meek and the Eagles, with LeBron James congratulating the team while dropping one of Meek’s most famous quotes.

Congratulations to the Eagles on their hard-fought victory, something fans and friends of Meek can’t wait to tell the rapper once he’s released. Here’s hoping it doesn’t take two to four years.
