Colorism within the Black community has been a hot topic as of late, with Love & Hip Hop star Amara La Negra recently championing the acceptance of brown and darker-skinned Latinas. Mathew Knowles shared with us just weeks ago that he grew up believing the closer a woman looked to White, the more attractive he considered them to be, something he later realized was severely problematic.
Just in time, Bronx rapper Remy Ma drops the video for latest single, “Melanin Magic (Pretty Brown),” featuring Chris Brown. The gold-tinted visual highlights the stunning skin tones of several brown-skinned beauties, serenaded by the hook king himself, Breezy.
Remy broke down why the song and accompanying visual was so important in a lengthy Instagram post, saying she wanted to remind her sisters of all shades how beautiful they are.
