A Broadway musical based on the life of the late music icon, Michael Jackson is currently in development, confirms Variety. The Jackson Estate and Columbia Live Stage announced the news on Tuesday (June 19). The currently untitled show is set to hit a Broadway in 2020.
The musical will be written by two-time Pulitzer Prize winner, Lynn Nottage. Tony Award winner and ballet superstar Christopher Wheeldon will serve as choreographer and director of the production. With the permission of the late singer’s estate, the score will include hit songs such as “Billie Jean” and “Thriller.”
It is unknown the bio-musical will incorporate some of the more controversial aspects of the pop icon’s life such as child sexual abuse allegations.
