Michael Jackson is one of the greatest artists of all time, selling millions upon millions of records throughout his career and even after his 2009 passing. It appears, however, that the superstar’s biggest album, Thriller, has just been surpassed as the highest selling album in US history by classic rock band, The Eagles.

The Associated Press reports The Eagles’ Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975 is now the highest-selling album in the US of all time. The RIAA has certified the compilation is 38X platinum, five million more than Thriller, which currently rests at 33X platinum.

The new certification brings The Eagles back to domination, as they held the record for nearly a decade before being surpassed by Jackson following is death.

Eagles’ songwriter Don Henley released a statement on the accomplishment:

“We are grateful for our families, our management, our crew, the people at radio and, most of all, the loyal fans who have stuck with us through the ups and downs of 46 years. It’s been quite a ride.”
