Former first lady Michelle Obama announced the completion of her forthcoming memoir, Becoming, late Wednesday. She will embark on a 10-city tour to share her story with fans starting in her hometown of Chicago Nov. 13, the day the book is scheduled to release.
“This fall, I’d like to share that fuller story with all of you on my book tour,” Obama captioned a video post with the news. “It’s the story of my humdrum plainness, my tiny victories, my lasting bruises, my ordinary hopes and worries. It’s the story of who I am, truly, and I’m proud of it—blemishes and all.”
She will appear in Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., Boston, Philadelphia, New York, Detroit, Denver, San Francisco and Dallas. Despite the large size of the venues, according to a press release, the visits will be “intimate and honest conversations between Mrs. Obama and a selection of to-be-announced moderators, reflective of the extraordinary stories shared in the wide-ranging chapters of her deeply personal book.”
Ten percent of the ticket sales will be donated to local community groups, schools and charities to allow individuals at each tour stop to attend for free. Tickets go on sale through the book’s website, becomingmichelleobama.com at 10 a.m. EST Sept. 21.
