Missy Elliot and Timbaland Plot Comeback Albums

Music legends Missy Elliott and Timbaland have been sorely missed from the game. The brand of futuristic funk has not graced airwaves in quite some time, but the two will get back into the mix very soon. According to MTV, the Virginia duo will merge their talents and release mutual albums in June this year.

It has been three years since the award-winning producer released “Shock Value II,” which received platinum certification, and seven years since Missy dropped “The Cookbook.” Fans have been fed appetizers from the dynamic duo, as most recently Timbo released new music via his free music initiative “Timbaland Thursdays,” and Missy appeared on J. Cole’s next single “Nobody’s Perfect.”

“Right now, we’re preparing to get both our videos, our first singles, shot kinda at the same time,” Tim said to MTV News from his Miami home. “We want to do it as a movement and spontaneously.”

While we’re excited for these musical mavens return, will a new (and younger) audience accept their zany sound? Or will they consider it “old school” rap?
