Just in case you were wondering, The Fugees will not be reuniting.

Last Saturday (July 15), Hot 97 dropped a new track “The Ish,” confirming it was a new release from the trio comprised of Lauryn Hill, Pras, and Wyclef Jean–collectively known as The Fugees. The group hasn’t released a new album in over two decades, so this news came as a cause for celebration. Unfortunately, Lauryn shut down any possibility of a reunion album.

After making “The Ish” made its rounds, Hill took to twitter to dispel any rumors about a possible reunion.  “The ‘new’ Fugees song is indeed an old track played around with back in the day in the lab,” she wrote. “Not sure who leaked it, but I have my suspicions.”

This isn’t the first time that hopes of a Fugees reunion have been cut down. In 2007, Pras told Billboard.com that a reunion would never come to fruition.  “We went in the studio and recorded a couple records that were incredible,” he said. “But, to put it nicely, it’s dead. Me and [Wyclef Jean], we on the same page, but Lauryn [Hill] is in her zone, and I’m fed up with that shit. Here she is, blessed with a gift, with the opportunity to rock and give, and she’s running on some bullshit? I’m a fan of Lauryn’s, but I can’t respect that.

That same year he went on to say that the likeliness of him working with Hill again is low, very low. “Before I work with Lauryn Hill again, you will have a better chance of seeing Osama Bin Laden and [George W.] Bush in Starbucks having a latte, discussing foreign policies, before there will be a Fugees reunion,” he explained to AllHipHop. “At this point I really think it will take an act of God to change her, because she is that far out there.

Jerry “Wonda” Duplessisthe producer behind the group’s heralded LP, The Score, has other things in mind. “I believe there will be a day when the Fugees get together, but everyone in the group’s gotta be ready,” he said in a 2011 interview with Rap-Up.“The Fugees are definitely going to get back together. The time will come. You’ve gotta wait, man.”

Until then, jam out to “The Ish,” here.
