Naomi Osaka will kick off a bid for her third consecutive Grand Slam title on Tuesday, the third day of the French Open.
Ranked No. 1 in the world by the Women’s Tennis Association, Osaka carries a 14-match winning streak at majors into her match today against 90th-ranked Anna Karolina Schmiedlova.
The Japanese tennis star has yet to make it past the third round in three previous appearances at the French Open. She won the U.S. Open in September and then the Australian Open in January.
According to Japan Today, Osaka is the first Asian to hold the top spot in either men’s or women’s tennis.
She recently appeared in a Nike ad slamming reporters for asking insensitive questions during interviews. Check it out below.
