Tennis star Naomi Osaka is set to be featured in a Netflix documentary that will premiere this month.

The three-part series, titled Naomi Osaka, chronicles Osaka as she ascended in the world of tennis after winning the 2018 US Open and her rise to international stardom. Also, the series conveys the pressure that she deals with as a young, sports icon.

"I feel like the platform that I have right now is something that I used to take for granted, and for me, I feel like I should be using it for something," Osaka said in the official press release. "I believe, instead of following, you have to make your own path."

The series will give a vivid portrayal of the tennis champion as she tries to make sense of her rapid rise to fame.

“I think the amount of attention that I get is kind of ridiculous,” she said in the trailer for the series, which premiered on Tuesday. “No one prepares you for that.”

By the time she reached 23-years old, Osaka became a top-ranked, four-time Grand Slam winner and the highest-paid female athlete in the world. She made history by becoming the first Japanese person to win a Grand Slam championship by defeating her idol Serena Williams in 2018.

"The series is about Naomi's journey, within a snapshot of her life," director Garrett Bradley, said in the press release.

"But it's also about life's purpose, about personal worth, about the courage that it takes to allow one's personal values to inform their work and vice versa,” he continued. "More than anything, I'd hope people can feel the power of empathy and to feel encouraged to take chances in life, perhaps especially in moments where the stakes can feel impossibly high."

The documentary is set to drop just before Osaka will make her return to tennis as a participant in the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

As EBONY previously reported, Osaka recently made headlines for withdrawing from the French Open, citing mental health reasons. Shortly thereafter, announced she had also withdrawn from this year's Wimbledon.

After skipping out on the required media interviews, Osaka revealed she had "suffered long bouts of depression" since winning her first grand slam title back in 2018.

The three-part documentary will air on July 16th.
