Hard to believe Norm Lewis is the first Black actor to ever star in this role on Broadway.

Most people know actor Norm Lewis as serial dumpee Senator Edison Davis on Scandal, but soon they will recognize him as the first Black performer to star in the titular role in the Phantom of the Opera on Broadway. Well … they'll recognize the left half of his face, at least.

Having previously starred in Miss Saigon and 2011's Porgy and Bess revival, Lewis will take over the role on May 12
