It’s no secret that President Obama is a fan of HBO’s “The Wire.” In a recent interview on Bill Simmons’ B.S. Report on ESPN.com podcast, both men discussed Linsanity, the Chicago Bulls beating the Miami Heat, college football, and Obama’s affinity for the Baltimore-based television series. “It’s got to be Omar, right?” the president said in regards to who the best character was on the show. “I mean, that guy is unbelievable, right?” he replied about the gay stick-up artist who stole from drug dealers and then gave the money to poor people in the neighborhood. “What a combination…that was one of the best shows of all time.”

He first talked about his love for the series during his 2008 presidential campaign with the Las Vegas Sun’s J. Patrick Coolican. Although ‘Wire’ actor Michael Kostroff met and volunteered for Obama, he still said his favorite character was Omar. Michael Kenneth Williams, who played the Obama-approved character, hasn’t responded. But, we’re sure the seasoned actor is flattered.

It is surprising that President Obama is such a big fan of Omar?
