Trumpeter Louis Armstrong was the fountainhead from which all other jazz artists flowed. Satchmo paved the way for Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Max Roach and all others who followed. Opening off-Broadway at Theater 3 this Sunday, November 4, Louis Armstrong: Jazz Ambassador is a family-friendly dramatic tale of social justice centered around the jazz legend. When nine African-American children are denied admission to school, the racism forces Armstrong to face the question: “is American equality for everyone?”

Making Books Sing, a critically acclaimed nonprofit promoting children’s literacy and social development through various arts-in-education programs, presents Louis Armstrong: Jazz Ambassador, along with the Louis Armstrong House Museum and the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College.
