On Saturday, May 19th, The Long Beach Lesbian and Gay Pride Festival will welcome Queen Latifah to the stage as its headlining artist. The performance will serve as the superstars’ first engagement at a Pride celebration. The celebration offers dance areas, a pep rally, parade and plenty of vendors to keep attendants entertained.

“From hip hop to R&B, pop to standards, Queen Latifah is the voice of our generation, and her concert here will be phenomenal,” said Long Beach Pride Co-President Pat Crosby in a statement on the official website.

The world has been entertained by the Queen for over two decades and her sexual orientation has served as a recurring topic of discussion despite her accomplishments. Given this headlining performance, anticipation appears to be running at an all time with the speculation that she may “come out”. The interpretation of Pat Crosby’s statement may have something to do with it:

“For her to make her worldwide Pride debut here in Long Beach is a tremendous testament to the popularity of our celebration and to the strength of our community,” said Crosby.

Latifah isn’t hardly the first big star to perform at the LBLGP Festival. Artists such as Jennifer Hudson, Mya and India.Arie have all performed at the festival, which typically attracts over 80,000 attendants for the two day celebration.
