Have you ever been in a relationship where, no matter what you do, you’re still wrong? If so, you might identify with Treach. (Y’know, Naughty by Nature Treach.) During last night’s episode of Couples Therapy, we discovered that the NBN front man is in a lose/lose relationship with his girlfriend of seven years, Cicely. Here’s the thing: Treach is a rapper, and I dare you to name one who hasn’t cheated. Cicely’s suspicion that Treach is still “down with O.P.P.” is likely justified, but what will it take to make her believe him?
Couples Therapy brought in an interrogation expert to speak to the couples and determine who’s lying about their problems. For her part, Cicely has typical rapper girlfriend problems. She’s not 100% secure in their relationship and suspects Treach has been creeping. To finally catch Treach in a lie, she asks their human lie detector to ask him whether he’s cheated on her in the past year.
Low and behold, Treach passed with flying colors. Cicely, of course, still doesn’t believe him because “people cheat lie detector tests every day.” In the words of a famous Frozen Disney princess: Cicely, “Let it go! Let it go!” Treach feels betrayed by her stunt and believes he’s in a no-win situation. No matter whether he cheated or not, she’s going to think he did anyway, and he’s tired of fighting to make things work. The rest of the house agrees with him.
Another thing the rest of the house can agree on is the fact that The Bachelor star Juan Pablo Galavis has commitment issues, thus explaining why he was a “Bachelor” in the first place. Five episodes in and Juan Pablo still can’t tell his girlfriend Nikki he loves her. When the interrogation expert asks Juan Pablo if he loves Nikki, rather than answer with a simple “yes” or “no,” he laces up his loafers and tap dances around the subject until he finally admits the kind of just “likes” her a lot.
This is the part where a normal person would send Juan Pablo packing back to Venezuela, but Nikki keeps on trying, bless her heart.
Last night’s episode ends with Dick and Stephanie finally admitting to the group the big secret they’ve been holding on to. Dick tells the rest of the house that he was kicked off of Big Brother after it was discovered he was HIV positive. He says that Stephanie is probably the last relationship he will ever have and there was not a dry eye in the room. In fact, I shed a tear or two as I wrote this.
Expect to see more dysfunction when you tune in to Couples Therapy on VH1 Wednesday nights at 9pm.
