Filmmaker Jennifer Jarosik was suing Russell Simmons for $5 million dollars after accusing the media mogul of rape in 2011. According to TMZ, the lawsuit against Simmons has been dismissed as of Wednesday morning.
Court documents obtained by the site also state that Jarosik cannot refile her case because it was dismissed with prejudice. Simmons filed a response to Jarosik’s lawsuit a few weeks ago claiming that after the alleged assault the 37-year-old sent him nude photos and other text messages.
Jarosik’s lawsuit came after nearly a dozen other women accused Simmons of sexual misconduct including rape. The mogul asserted that Jarosik’s claims were just an attempt for her to extort money out of a rich man.
The dismissal of the case is reportedly a sign that the parties involved reached a settlement. Simmons has maintained his innocence throughout all the allegations.
The site was unable to get a comment from Simmons or his team.
