[Watch] Behind The Cover: Russell Westbrook

Russell Westbrook
EBONY's April/May 2017 Cover shot by Mark Mann

Russell Westbrook is breaking records and taking names as he continues to stun audiences with his basketball play-making ability. Joining the ranks of NBA greats such as Oscar Robertson, Wilt Chamberlain, Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson just to name a few, Westbrook soars high above the competition and keeps fans around the world on their feet.

Not only is he having perhaps the best moment of his NBA career (so far), the Oklahoma City Thunder guard graced the April/May #TravelIssue of EBONY Magazine. Westbrook is known for being one of the most fashionably unique professional athletes in sports entertainment, and constantly tests the waters with eclectic patterns and mood-matching, expressive clothing.

During the process of making the cover, our creative gurus Pedro Vega, Jr., EBONY’s Creative Director and Ayoca Lucas, EBONY’s Fashion and Beauty Director, shared their experience with our recent cover star. In the video above, they explain how they achieved some of the looks and images for our cover star.

The 2017 April/May issue of EBONY Magazine is on newsstands now, make sure you grab a copy!
