Great news for Wakanda fans, director Ryan Coolger, will reportedly begin working on a follow-up to the box office hit Black Panther in 2019, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Marvel Studios was working on securing Coogler for the sequel but was unclear on when it would happen.
Black Panther, which is honored on EBONY’s Power 100 List, grossed $700 million in the US and more than $1.3 billion globally. The movie has spawned memes, a signature salute and has become a defining moment in pop culture.
Coogler is directing Wrong Answer, a drama starring Black Panther actor and close collaborator Michael B. Jordan. He is also executive producing the sequel to Space Jam starring NBA superstar LeBron James.
Marvel nor Disney have made an official announcement on when Black Panther 2 is scheduled for release.
