In 2013, a movement was afoot to name the corner of St. James Place and Fulton Street in Brooklyn, New York after its most famous—and infamous—resident, the Notorious BIG. The nearly 4,000 signatures on a Change.org petition, however, wasn’t enough to convince the Community Board to overlook the rapper’s criminal past and often misogynistic lyrics. Still, the flame Brooklyn carries for BIG lives on. Per the streets (who else?), a rumored second attempt is underway to make “Christopher Wallace Way” an eventual reality.
