Jim DeRogatis, the Chicago journalist and music critic who first wrote about 'R. Kelly and young girls more than 19 years ago, has penned a new book about the self-proclaimed "Pied Piper of R&B" titled Soulless: The Case Against R. Kelly. Released five months after the captivating Lifetime series, Surviving R. Kelly, Soulless documents DeRogatis' investigative reporting of Kelly and chronicles the writer's experience delving deep into the psyche, activities and claims against the singer.

When DeRogatis began his work on Kelly in 2000, neither the music industry nor the community that loved Kelly seemed to care about the allegations and what would become to be seen as predatory behavior against young girls. Today, in the #MeToo era, Soulless is described as a "masterpiece, a work of tenacious journalism and powerful cultural criticism," according to a review at Amazon.com.

Soulless: The Case Against R. Kelly is available now in hardcover and digital editions.
