To celebrate the upcoming film “Sparkle,” starring Jordin Sparks and Whitney Houston, Sony Pictures and MySpace have teamed up to discover the best and brightest amateur singers across the country. This Saturday, individuals ages 13 through 40 will be auditioning to compete against one another locally, with each city’s winner receiving a prize of $500 as well as the chance to compete for the national grand prize. At each audition, prospects will be asked to sing a 60 second acapella version of either “Something He Can Feel” or “Celebrate.”

Auditions will be held this weekend on July 14 and 15 in major cities throughout the country. The national champion will be winning the opportunity of a lifetime, including a guest appearance on BET’s “106 & Park” and a feature on MySpace’s homepage. For more information on registering and auditioning, head to www.myspace.com/sparkle. “Sparkle” is set to open in theaters nationwide on August 17.
