James Corden was surely on to something when he introduced “Carpool Karaoke” on his late late nightly show.
It has all the right elements: comedy, celebrities, music, and a whole lot of loud singing as he and his special guest(s) cruise to the show’s L.A. studio.
Now, take those components and toss in the hip-hop flare of Russell Simmon’s All Def Digital platform and streaming service Spotify and you have the progressive series, Traffic Jams.
The music-centered show offers quite a twist from Corden’s karaoke bit. Traffic Jams teams an artist with a producer they’ve never worked with before and they have only one hour to create a hot song that they will perform in front of a live crowd. In addition to working together for the first time, the artists have to create the banger while in the backseat of a car during L.A. traffic.
Hence the title…
The series, hosted by comedian DoBoy, debuts on April 14 through Spotify.
