It’s the moment we were all talking about Sunday night…
We all gnashed our teeth and cringed when it turned out Miss Universe pageant host Steve Harvey had announced Miss Colombia as the winner of the Miss Universe pageant. She was poised, graceful, beautiful. The only problem was she wasn’t the winner.
It took about a minute of hugs and waves before Harvey sheepishly walked back out onto the stage to announce his mistake…and it had to be one of the most embarrassing moments of his career, not to mention the crushing humiliation Ariadna Gutierrez must have felt (despite keeping herself together) when she had to give her crown and sash up to Miss Phillipines, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach.
Of course moments like these are made for social media and the Twitterverse exploded.
First, Harvey himself rightly stepped up to apologize…
I’d like to apologize wholeheartedly to Miss Colombia & Miss Philippines for my huge mistake. I feel terrible.

Secondly, I’d like to apologize to the viewers at that I disappointed as well. Again it was an honest mistake.

I don’t want to take away from this amazing night and pageant. As well as the wonderful contestants. They were all amazing.

Then he does the same at a press conference immediately following:
He said it was an “honest mistake” and we really can’t do more than take him at his word. But that didn’t stop the social media world from reacting in some of the funniest ways.
That look you give #SteveHarvey when he crowns the wrong woman. #youhadonejob pic.twitter.com/FG6ndddhQe

If @realDonaldTrump is elected president, we should have #SteveHarvey announce it.

But there was also support and forgiveness, too.
#MissUniverse2015 I feel so bad for #SteveHarvey .He was obviously nervous. It took a lot for him to admit his mistake.
