Director X, best known for his work on numerous music videos, is at the helm of the new Superfly, a remake of the 1972 blaxploitation film of the same name. In an effort to keep up with the times, the setting has been moved from Harlem to Atlanta.
Southern spitter Future was tapped to curate the soundtrack, following in the steps of songwriter and composer Curtis Mayfield, who crafted the first film’s classic score. The rapper released a teaser trailer and previewed a new track via Twitter in March, with the clip featuring appearances from Big Boi, Rick Ross, Zaytoven, The Wire’s Michael K. Williams and others.
