Netflix's Strong Black Lead announced its initiative to stream classic Black films. The first throwback film to be released under the plan is Robert Townsend's 1997 film B*A*P*S. The film follows two Georgia women and how their lives change after flying to Los Angeles for a music video audition.

Nola Darling is back for another season of Spike Lee's She's Gotta Have It. The series is a modern retelling of Lee's 1986 film of the same name. This season will reportedly follow Darling, played by DeWanda Wise, as she navigates through success, love and her fluid sexuality.

When They See Us is a four-part Netflix Original docuseries co-written and directed by Ava DuVernay. It's based on the true story that gripped the country in 1989, when five Harlem teenagers of color–Antron McCray, Kevin Richardson, Yusef Salaam, Raymond Santana and Korey Wise–were convicted of a rape they did not commit.
