Tina Knowles Lawson has one of the cutest Instagram accounts. Her light of inspiration, daily dose of “corny jokes”, travels and updates of family happenings – including cool stuff relating to Beyonce, Solange and Kelly – are enough to put a smile on your face, regardless of the day you’ve had.

This is fun! Go to bed Tina 😀

But in addition to being an awesome mother, Mama T’s devotion to youth, the arts and community are to be applauded as well.

This month, she and husband, actor Richard Lawson opened the Where Art Can Occur Theater Center in North Hollywood, which has a mission to encourage “artists to find their true purpose and awaken their own individual power source, which fuels their art,” according to the organization’s website. On April 29, the organization will host its Wearable Art Gala.

“We’re both firm believers that you have to have a space for the community, especially right now, because all the music programs are being cut out of schools,” Knowles-Lawson said in an earlier interview with Variety. “When my kids were young, there was a place called The Shrine of the Black Madonna [which is also a cultural and community center] in Houston, Texas, where they grew up. It impacted my children. I always wanted to have something like that.”

Today, during the publication’s Power of Women luncheon, the longtime activist was honored with the Community Commerce Impact Award, presented by SheaMoisture.

Amid the celebratory moments, there’s also something else special brewing for Mama Tina: She’ll soon welcome two more grandbaby’s to the family. During the luncheon, Extra’s AJ Calloway caught up with the mama on the move and got a little update on Beyoncé’s second pregnancy. Check out the clip below.
