Tina Lawson is known for her presence on social media, but her appreciation for technology doesn’t end there. She also has a group chat in which she stays connected with her daughters Beyoncé and Solange, her niece Angie Beyincé and songstress Kelly Rowland.

On Monday, Lawson provided insight into those conversations during an appearance on Maria Shriver’s Meaningful Conversations with Maria Shriver podcast.

“It’s like I have four girls. And it’s so funny because we are always on group chats,” Lawson said. “And we’ll be on a group chat for two hours, just going back and forth and laughing about something or being sad about something.”

The dynamics of her family group chat has shifted following the shooting death of rapper and entrepreneur Nipsey Hussle, who was gunned down on March 31.

Lawson said, “I’m sure you heard about Nipsey Hussle being killed, so we’ve been on this group chat … the sadness about that and the disappointment.
He’s on my son-in-law’s label, and my son-in-law [JAY-Z] loved him so much.”

She opened up about how her family has been coping with his death. “He was such a great guy that the whole community is sad, but it’s really comforting to be able to be on that group chat and talk about it,” she added. “It’s like counseling.”

Both Beyoncé and Lawson have paid tribute to the fallen rapper on social media.

Posting a childhood photo of the Victory Lap emcee, Bey wrote, ”
I’m praying with every ounce of my heart for your family. Rest In Peace, Nipsey.

Lawson followed suit, writing, “Let us continue and support the effort that This young amazing man put in motion. Rip Nipsey Hussle.”

On Thursday, family, friends and fans of the late rapper celebrated his life during a memorial service held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
