Van Lathan, the TMZ producer who famously stood up to Kanye West, claimed there is footage from 2014 of Nicki Minaj running down her ex-boyfriend, Safaree, with a knife. He called into L.A.’s Power 106 The Cruz Show on Wednesday morning with the update after Safaree claimed Nicki almost killed him.
“We actually [have] seen the video here at TMZ, back in 2014, that shows Nicki chasing Safaree with a knife,” Lathan told the radio hosts. “We should say, don’t know what happened after that. Couples get into it, sometimes things get heated. There’s no reason why you should be chasing someone with a knife, but we don’t know if Nicki actually stabbed him.”
During an interview with Hot 97’s Funkmaster Flex, the multiplatinum rapper addressed allegations that Safaree wrote some of her rhymes and him mistreating her. On Tuesday, the situation turned into a back and forth between Nicki and the Love & Hip Hop star, who took to Twitter to allege that she cut him and almost ended his life.
Lathan gave no mention of why the video never made it to TMZ or if the site has any intention of posting it now.
