Tyler Perry Cancels Madea Tour

Tyler Perry

Tyler Perry likely upset more than a few Madea fans yesterday when he announced the canceling of his upcoming "Madea Gets A Job" tour, which was actually the series' final stage tour. The filmmaker-actor blamed ticket scalpers, bootleggers, and impersonators for his abrupt cancelation in a lengthy Facebook post, telling fans that he was "super sorry" but "my hands are tied." Apparently, folks have been pretending to be Perry after shows and tricking theatergoers into paying $150 for meet-and-greets and photo opportunities. Perry also explained that despite charging only $25, $45, and $65 per ticket for his shows, a large number of individuals had circumvented legit box offices online, and sold those same tickets to unsuspecting fans for a much heftier price.

"This is so frustrating!" Perry wrote on his Facebook page. "Why are people so evil? Why can't people just get legitimate jobs and stop trying to do the wrong thing all the time? If they put the same amount of energy into doing the right thing as they do in doing the wrong thing they could make it. It's so sad."
