Thanks mostly in part to its four popular judges, "The Voice" has established itself as a top contender in the reality musical competition genre. However, the judges are still pop stars above all else, so Christina Aguilera and Cee-Lo will both be taking time off from the NBC show to work on new projects. Rumors have circulated regarding their replacements, and Usher and Shakira have surfaced as the artists likely slated for the open seats in season four.

According to the show's creators, all four original judges of the series, including country star Blake Shelton and Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine, have dibbs on their roles as judges and have been allowed as much time away from the show as they like, so any replacement would be temporary if Green or Aguilera ever decide to return. As far as what they have in the works, Aguilera has an anticipated album dropping soon and a concert tour, while Green will be busy working on his solo album, a Goodie Mob reunion album, and a sitcom for NBC.
