The sophomore slump is looking pretty non-existent for Viola Davis. "Won't Back Down," a film about education reform where Davis will star alongside Maggie Gyllenhaal, is slated to premier Sept. 28.

The actresses play two parents who join together to transform their children’s inner city school. Directed by newcomer Daniel Barnz, the film’s release date was pushed to the fall to be more Oscar-friendly. "What I like about my character is that she puts a human face on these teachers," Davis told USA Today. She adds, “It's not a Kumbaya story. My character goes on a journey. By the end, you may not know if you like her or not."
