Delphine Diallo: Picture Poetry

Delphine Diallo heard the call from her home in France, luring the artist to join her higher self as a photographer in America. “I left my corporate job as an art director, moved to New York and everything unfolded,” says the native Parisienne.

Taking that leap of faith, Diallo aligned with the foundation of her work: the Black woman archetype. The photograph entitled “New York Spirit” was shot in 2013 and represents Diallo’s warrior, “She’s at her full point of style: her skin, the hair, the smoke, the nails–which have a poem written on them.” Creating images that embody the Black woman as the sage, the goddess, the innocent, the mother, the magician, Diallo’s creative offerings are soulful and boundless.
