The Food and Drug Administration warned Tuesday that while the amounts of mercury in skin lightening products is typically low, mercury, like lead, accumulates in the body. It is said that it damages the nervous system, the kidneys, and other organs. Symptoms such as irritability, tremors, depression, memory problems, and changes in hearing and vision occur with frequent usage of skin lighteners.

With brand names like Creme Diana, Lulanjina, Fasco, and Jiao Li on the list as potential health risk inducers, will this put a stop to the trend of lightening one's skin? Or will we see more and more follow the paths set by people suchn as Sammy Sosa and Vybz Kartel?
