Freddie Gray's death in the custody of Baltimore police has been ruled a homicide, Baltimore state's attorney Marilyn Mosby announced at a Friday press conference.

Mosby said police officers had illegally arrested Gray before placing him in a police transport van without being buckled in. She added that officers repeatedly refused Gray's request for medical attention, and that they did not have probable cause to arrest him. Six officers face charges in the incident, including the driver of the transport van carrying Gray. The driver faces second-degree murder charges.
