Teeth Cleaning Does the Heart Good

A trip to the dentist can give you one more thing to smile about: Data presented at the American Heart Association’s scientific meeting found that people who had their teeth professionally cleaned had a 24 percent lower risk of heart attack and a 13 percent lower risk of stroke compared to those who never had a cleaning. A professional cleaning seems to reduce inflammation-causing bacterial growth that can lead to heart disease.
