Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) blasted President Donald Trump at a Martin Luther King Jr. Day event, calling him “the grand wizard of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue," according to NBC News.

“We have a hater in the White House. Birther-in-chief,” Jeffries said New York Monday at the event hosted by the National Action Network, a civil rights organization founded by the Rev. Al Sharpton.

Grand wizard is the title the head of the Ku Klux Klan White supremacist group.

"These are challenging times in the United States of America--we have a hater in the White House, a birther in chief, the grand wizard of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue," he said. "One of the things that we've learned is that while Jim Crow may be dead, he still got some nieces and nephews that are alive and well."

Jeffries, who is chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, has criticized Trump before. He told EBONY in September that the president is a “hater-in-chief”
