Halle Berry and French actor Olivier Martinez have officially announced their plans to tie the knot. The actors co-starred in the 2010 film "Dark Tide," which ended up going straight to DVD. Yet, what began as an on-set relationship eventually flourished into a full-fledged love affair once the movie wrapped. Martinez was actually the one to confirm the engagement while promoting his new restaurant Villa Azur in South Beach. "Yes, of course it's true," he replied, when asked about the then-rumor. So, now that the jig is up, that engagement ring Berry has been wearing since January finally makes sense. According to sources, Martinez and Berry employed famed Lebanese jeweler Robert Mazlo to design the ring, which involved a "mystical" process including a 500 year old Alchemy test and other complex details.

This will be Berry's third wedding, despite her insisting that she would no longer marry. Berry is certainly a grown woman and fully capable of making her own decisions. Still, even though she has an Oscar to her name, as well as several "Most Beautiful Person" award titles, it's difficult not to want to advise her on this big leap, considering how her other marriages have ended up. Let's just hope that the third time really is a charm.

Will this marriage stand the test of time, or has Halle rushed into another engagement? Also — and this may be the most important question — should it even matter to anyone outside of Halle and Olivier's circle if the engagement and subsequent marriage happen to be "rushed?"
