Around 100 people gathered in the streets pushing for answers about Charles Smith's shooting death at the hands of a Savannah police officer. The GBI has been brought in to investigate the shooting and, according to a statement, their preliminary investigation shows officers arrested the 29-year-old man on outstanding warrants and cuffed his hands behind his back before putting him in a patrol car.

They said Smith was able to get his cuffed hands in front of him and kick out the car window. As he tried to get out of the car, officers said they noticed Smith had a gun and ended up shooting him. Investigators said they found a gun under Smith's body at the scene.

Savannah's mayor tried to reassure the community and told them the investigation will get to the bottom of what happened. Smith's mother is also speaking out.
