With his recent film 12 Years A Slave garnering critical acclaim, director Steve McQueen is now eying the small screen for one of his latest projects.

HBO has confirmed to Variety that it is developing a drama from McQueen that centers on a young African American man who is entering New York high society, with a past that may not be what it seems. McQueen will co-write the untitled project with Matthew Michael Carnahan (World War Z). McQueen will also serve as director.

In addition to helming 12 Years A Slave, McQueen’s recent film credits include Hunger and Shame. His HBO project is his first foray in television.
