Former NBA baller Matt Barnes appears to have made the transition from sports to the film industry, as the athlete recently announced that a new Huey Newton biopic has been green lit.

The father of two shared the great news via Twitter, where he revealed actor Keith Powers (The New Edition Movie) would be involved in the project. No word if he is set to star or will have a supporting role. According to Barnes, the project has already been titled Power to the People.

Huey Newton, along with Bobby Seale, co-founded the Black Panther Party in 1966. Formed in Oakland, California, the Party encouraged its members to challenge the status quo, eventually spreading throughout the country. Newton was shot and killed in 1989.
